Oh yeah, Maple Syrup Too...

Our first foray into maple syruping was a sweet success! We started with seven taps, planned to set more, but could not keep up with the sap pouring out of the trees. Boiled most of it down on the stove, but we did one batch out over a fire in the backyard (See pic in title bar) until we ran out of firewood. It is absolutely fabulous! A few batches turned to sugar after it cooled down, but that made for some great apple pie and maple cheesecake. This will definitely be an annual event.

Sounds like you need a sap/tap tending party.

I LOVE real maple syrup. Hard to find around here so I have to get my supplies when I head to upstate NY to visit my family. Great idea!

Give that chicken fat back to the chicken and don't be chicken no mo'

we are in perfect agreement here in Colorado. Those chicks are ADORABLE!!!!! I hear they really love mealworms. Our 3 anoles and 1 gecko certainly do. I remember the pie Big Leah made while she was visiting us, Jeanne, Nori, and baby Leah, in Chicago. Remember the train ride from hell? Leah put maple syrup in it among other things. It was the best apple pie I ever ate. All are well here. We are suppose to get a mother of a storm coming through. Of course, we are all excited. Love, Jeanniebambeanie
